Keep the warning in view

Coolant level looks normal, but the car overheated

Separate the earlier heat event from a later cold reservoir reading and keep the service question open.

Before you start

If steam or spray is present, keep the hood closed and arrange roadside or service assistance. Never open a hot cooling-system cap. Do not run the engine to reproduce the event.

For an owner who saw a high-temperature warning, steam or sudden power loss and now wants to document what happened. Other model years, markets and engines need their own manual.

Record the heat event for service
  1. An active symptom comes first

Continuing to drive with the high-temperature indicator can damage the engine. Use the manual’s overheating response and arrange assistance for a continuing warning or steam.

  2. Record the two observations separately

Only after the vehicle is safely parked and cool, record an accessible reserve-tank reading. Keep the earlier warning, steam or loss of power in the record even if the level is now between MIN and MAX.

  3. Prepare the next conversation

Include the event, later cold reading, recurrence and recent coolant work. A normal reserve-tank reading does not identify the cause or resolve the heat complaint.

What you will keep

A service handoff with the heat event and cold observation in separate fields. This workflow records service needs, not permission to drive.

  • Event date and warning, steam or power loss already observed:
  • Later cold observation, or not checked:
  • Repeated events, coolant additions or visible wetness:
  • Unresolved questions and assistance arranged:
