Fit: restore front wiping and record visibility
For visibly deteriorated original front rubbers: inspect, fit matching rubbers and verify the wet-glass result. A different holder or intact-looking but ineffective blade stays an inspection case.

Work through the stages in order. Open the linked plans to make the relevant observations, then return here to keep the result.
STAGE 1
Locate the worn wiping edge
Identify actual deterioration, the affected viewing area and any loose arm or damaged glass.
Keep: A driver/passenger damage and visibility record supporting the replacement decision.
- Inspect streaking windshield wipers No current task record
STAGE 2
Fit and retain matching front rubbers
Follow the original-holder procedure and verify each tab/indent engagement before operation.
Keep: Both rubber matches, retention observations and supported arm-lowering checks.
- Replace front wiper blade rubber No current task record
STAGE 3
Compare the same viewing area
Use the safe wet-glass result to decide whether the observed streaking was resolved.
Keep: Before/after wiping comparison and any remaining streak, scratch or loose-movement request.
- Replace front wiper blade rubber No current task record
Review your next step
- Both fitted holders match the original procedure.
- The rubber and holder retention is confirmed before testing.
- A satisfactory wet-glass result is recorded; unresolved visibility is not marked repaired.
Include the unresolved items so this record is useful at the next check or service visit.

Inspect streaking windshield wipers
Separate visibly worn rubber from a replacement decision before handling the arms.
Vehicle: 2015 Honda Fit · US
Applicability and exclusions
- Other model years and markets; imported Jazz or Fit Hybrid; modified or aftermarket components with a different procedure.
Preparation, tools and materials
- Park in a safe place away from traffic. Work with the vehicle stationary, parking brake set and ignition off unless a step explicitly calls for a parked functional check.
- Are the ignition and wipers off, with both blades safely resting on the windshield?
- Keep children and pets away from tools, fluids and coin cells. Never enter underneath the vehicle.
- Good lighting
- Soft cloth to protect glass
- No replacement part required for this inspection.
Record the evidence
Describe which edge is worn and which viewing area streaks; keep visible damage separate from an assumed cause.
- Rubber condition
- Blade and streaked viewing area
- Loose arm, metal contact or glass damage
- Existing wet-glass visibility observation
Steps
- Switch the wipers and ignition off. Inspect both rubber edges in place; do not move the arms across the glass by hand.
- Look for splits, missing rubber, deterioration or metal that could contact the windshield.
- Use your already-observed streaks and the rubber condition together. The manual links deteriorated rubber to streaks and possible scratching.
- If rubber is deteriorated, prepare the front-rubber replacement task and confirm your holder design. If no damage is visible but poor wiping persists, seek inspection rather than assuming a motor fault.
- Leave blades supported on the glass and record whether replacement preparation or service is the next step.
- Describe which edge is worn and which viewing area streaks; keep visible damage separate from an assumed cause.
Decision checks
Are the ignition and wipers off, with both blades safely resting on the windshield?
- Yes — ready for this check: Continue with the steps, stopping if the real component differs from the manual.
- Not yet / not sure: Preparation saved. Return when the condition is confirmed; leave the vehicle untouched.
- Bare metal contacts glass, the arm is loose or glass is damaged: Loose arm, glass contact, unclear cause or continuing poor wiping: arrange inspection before relying on the wipers.
What did the stationary rubber inspection show?
- Rubber is split, missing or visibly deteriorated: Does the observed rubber condition support replacement preparation without loose-arm or glass damage?
- Rubber looks intact; no metal touching glass: Does wiping still leave streaks that impair the view, despite no visible rubber damage?
- Loose arm, glass damage or bare metal: Loose arm, glass contact, unclear cause or continuing poor wiping: arrange inspection before relying on the wipers.
- I cannot inspect the rubber safely: Preparation saved. Return when the condition is confirmed; leave the vehicle untouched.
- I have only prepared the plan: Plan prepared; no physical maintenance result recorded.
Does wiping still leave streaks that impair the view, despite no visible rubber damage?
- Yes, the view remains impaired: Cause remains unresolved. Have wiping performance inspected before relying on the wipers for visibility; intact-looking rubber does not establish a motor fault.
- No current streaking or impairment observed: No current defect or impairment observed. Keep monitoring; replacement is not established by this inspection.
- I have not made a safe wet-glass observation: Preparation saved. Return when the condition is confirmed; leave the vehicle untouched.
Does the observed rubber condition support replacement preparation without loose-arm or glass damage?
- Worn rubber confirmed; correct replacement path prepared: Worn / deteriorated rubber identified; the correct replacement task is the next step
- The observation or repeat check is still incomplete: Plan prepared; no physical maintenance result recorded.
- Metal contact, loose arm or cause remains uncertain: Loose arm, glass contact, unclear cause or continuing poor wiping: arrange inspection before relying on the wipers.
Recheck
After the selected replacement or inspection, does a safe wet-glass observation show clear wiping and secure retention?
Stop and get help if
- Bare metal contacts glass, the arm is loose or glass is damaged
- Loose arm, glass contact, unclear cause or continuing poor wiping: arrange inspection before relying on the wipers.
- A part, label, connector or fastener differs from the cited manual; access requires raising the vehicle; you cannot identify the correct component.
Keep for service
Take the recorded observations, their dates and any actual work history to the service provider. Loose arm, glass contact, unclear cause or continuing poor wiping: arrange inspection before relying on the wipers.

For original tab-retained holders; aftermarket blades need their own instructions.
- Do both fitted holders match the manual’s tab-retained design, and is matching rubber available?
- Keep children and pets away from tools, fluids and coin cells. Never enter underneath the vehicle.
- Soft glass-protection cloth
- Good lighting
- Replacement rubber verified to match each fitted original holder; no guessed length
Record the evidence
Record each rubber/holder match and both retention checks before the wet-glass observation.
- Original tab holder and replacement-rubber match
- Driver and passenger tab engagement
- Wet-glass wipe result by blade
- Scratch, chatter, loose movement or remaining streak
Steps
- Turn ignition and wipers off. Raise the driver-side arm first, then the passenger side, supporting each arm to protect the glass.
- Hold the lock tab and slide the blade assembly from its arm; do not let an unsupported arm snap down.
- Pull the tabbed rubber end out of its holder. Compare the new rubber with the removed piece and stop if its profile or retention differs.
- Feed the new rubber from the holder’s bottom end, ensuring its tab fits the indent at the top.
- Slide the assembly securely onto the arm. Lower the passenger-side arm first, then the driver side, slowly and by hand.
- With all hands clear, test on a wetted windshield while parked. A loose blade, scratching or continuing poor wiping needs inspection.
- Record each rubber/holder match and both retention checks before the wet-glass observation.
Decision checks
Do both fitted holders match the manual’s tab-retained design, and is matching rubber available?
- Yes — ready for this check: Continue with the steps, stopping if the real component differs from the manual.
- Not yet / not sure: Preparation saved. Return when the condition is confirmed; leave the vehicle untouched.
- Aftermarket attachment, bent arm or a damaged holder: Blade loose, retention uncertain or scratching: stop using the wipers and have the fit checked.
How did the fitted blades behave on wet glass?
- Both securely retained and wiping without loose movement or scratching: Are both tabs engaged and both blades secure after the wet-glass test?
- Blade loose, retention uncertain or scratching: stop using the wipers and have the fit checked.: Blade loose, retention uncertain or scratching: stop using the wipers and have the fit checked.
